"A masochistic kind of beauty is seeded deep within me. My paintings will tell you the secrets of this darkness in a way my words will always fail to. I will show you the hidden truths of me. And you will feel the hidden truths of you."
Nichole Camarillo is an artist with a raw talent and self-taught style that are continually reborn and refined. Conceptually, Camarillo's intense imagery often explores themes of hedonism and nostalgia. Her striking fantasies of sex and death are intricately woven with vivid color and emotion. Her obsessive eye nests the most ominous symbolism in the tiniest of detail.

Camarillo spent the majority of her childhood engulfed in poverty and abuse. She quickly learned there was a serene haven that lied within her natural creative abilities. Camarillo continued to seek out this refuge throughout her tumultuous upbringing. By her late teens, Camarillo had developed her drawing proficiency to the point of exhaustion. It was at this time that Camarillo was introduced to paint. Adding color to such dark thoughts and memories was intimidating, at best. But it was this intimidation that brought an excitement and satisfying thrill to each completed piece, propelling Camarillo's interest and determination.

For nearly a decade now, Camarillo has presented us with beautifully tormented observations of herself and the world around her. Never binding her creativity to any one media or genre, we can always look forward to fresh and exciting things to come as Camarillo and her art continue to evolve.
